Property Settlement Risks - the new 10% withholding tax and its impact on family lawyers

As from 1 July 2016, a new foreign capital gains withholding tax regime came into effect. The new regime is designed to assist the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) in the collection of foreign investors' Australian tax liabilities arising from the sale of a real property. These provisions mean there are new issues to watch for and caution is required by family lawyers when drafting Family Law Act orders or financial agreements with direct or indirect interests in real property assets.

Given the implications for FLPA members, Joseph Box of Grant Thornton and FLPA board member will present a free webinar to FLPA members.

In a question and answer format, facilitated by FLPA Vice-President, Fiona Caulley, Joseph will answer all of the questions you need to know about the new 10% withholding tax affecting transfers of real property interests and how it impacts on family lawyers. By taking part in the live webinar you will have the opportunity to have your own questions answered by Joseph.
