TWILIGHT SEMINAR / WEBINAR – Mediation – Insights and Learnings
Join mediators Rob Grant, Jenny Rimmer, Anne-Marie Rice and Deborah Awyzio as they:
- share insights into their work as mediators;
- discuss the many benefits of mediation;
- answer your questions about the necessity for mediation; and
- discuss how best to prepare for mediation.
Rob Grant – Rob is an accredited family law specialist (having served on the QLS panel which introduced family law specialist accreditation in Qld), a nationally accredited mediator and a registered family dispute resolution provider.
Rob has been involved in mediation of family law disputes since being appointed as a chairperson of Legal Aid conferences following the establishment of that programme some 30 plus years ago. Over the last fifteen years, in particular, Rob’s mediation practice has evolved such that he now practises exclusively as a mediator and is often briefed to travel throughout Queensland doing so. The highlight of Rob’s professional life was being awarded the Honourable Travis Lindenmayer Award in 2014. As an aside, Rob is the only member of this panel who has been briefed by and conducted mediations for all of his fellow panel members.
Jenny Rimmer – Jenny was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1982. Jenny has 34 years experience as a legal practitioner specialising in family law and de facto matters. Jenny has been a Deputy Registrar and Registrar of the Family Court of Australia and was appointed as a Federal Magistrate of the then Federal Magistrates Court of Australia between 2001 and 2007. Jenny is a nationally accredited mediator, an approved family dispute resolution provider and has completed the training for arbitration provided by the Law Counsel of Australia. Jenny has conducted mediations since 2007.
Anne-Marie Rice – Anne-Marie is an accredited family law specialist, mediator, FDRP and arbitrator. She is the principal mediator at Rice Mediations and is a director of Rice Naughton McCarthy.
Having worked in family law since 1998, she is obsessed with dispute resolution and now spends much of her time speaking with practitioners around the country, and around the world, about mediation, arbitration and collaborative practice.
Deborah Awyzio – Deborah is an accredited family law specialist, nationally accredited mediator and family dispute resolution practitioner. Deborah conducts mediation in property matters, parenting, spousal maintenance and estate disputes and also sits on the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority as a mediator for farm business debt mediation and the mediator list for the Office Franchising Mediation Advisers for franchising disputes.
Deborah is attending the Harvard Institute of Negotiation mediating disputes course in October 2017 in Boston.
