Don’t miss Barrister and Mediator Murray Green presenting the final FLPA Twilight Seminar/Webinar for 2018 in Brisbane.
In this Twilight, Murray will examine the statutory provisions in the Family Law Act 1975 that invest courts with jurisdiction to decide children and property related cases.
His presentation will include a brief discussion on the sections of the Act that implement Australia's obligations under the Hague Convention of 19 October 1996 on Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Recognition, Enforcement and Cooperation in Respect of Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children (the 1996 Hague Convention) on the power of a court to exercise its jurisdiction in child -related proceedings.
Finally, Murray will go through the basics of the doctrine of forum non conveniens and its effect on Australian courts deciding children and property cases.
NOTE: There will be no paper, so come prepared to take notes.
