The new Family Law Act amendments in practice

Thursday, 1 May 2025

The Family Law Practitioner's Association of Queensland is pleased to invite members to a seminar examining the upcoming amendments to the Family Law Act 1975, which will come into effect on 10 June 2025.

We are honoured to welcome Senior Judicial Registrar Rice of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) and Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) and Michael Drysdale KC as our esteemed presenters.

From 10 June 2025, the Family Law Act 1975 includes changes to the law about:

·         how the family law courts will determine a property settlement; and
·         what the family law courts will consider when determining a property settlement. This
includes the economic effect of any family violence, where
relevant.

This seminar will explore the key changes to the legislation as well as the practical implications of the amendments for practitioners and their clients.

This is a must-attend event for all practitioners working in family law, and an excellent opportunity to hear about how these changes may shape future property matters.

We look forward to seeing you there.
