FLPA Twilight Seminar/Webinar

"Trusts - What do you need to know"

In this Twilight Seminar, Sheridan Emerson and Paul Doolan will discuss the strategic decisions and practical implications of running a case against or in defence of a trust.  They will be discussing questions such as when and when not to intervene if you’re acting for the trustee, when you join the trustee, what your prospects are on subpoenas, and how you should treat the trust on the balance sheet.  There will be a particular focus on valuation of the trust interest on the balance sheet: whether you characterise the interest as property or a financial resource, and what value you should put on it.

Sheridan Emerson is a Partner at Pearson Emerson Meyer Family Lawyers. Sheridan was recognised as a Preeminent family lawyer in the peer-selected Doyle's Guide to the Australian legal profession in 2019, one of only 5 NSW lawyers in this category. Sheridan was also recognised as one of the top 4 NSW family lawyers in the High Value & Complex Property category in the 2019 guide and has been recognised as a leading family lawyer Australia-wide.

Pearson Emerson Meyer Family Lawyers was recognised as a First Tier family law firm in the 2019 Doyle's Guide.

Sheridan is a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.

Paul Doolan is a Partner at Barkus Doolan Family Lawyers.

In 2018 and 2019, “Doyle’s Guide to the Australian Legal Market” ranked Paul Doolan as the Market Leader of all family lawyers practicing in Australia.

The firm of Barkus Doolan Family Lawyers has been ranked by Doyle's Guide as one of a select group of First Tier family law firms across the country.

Paul is the Chair of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
